UIL Strips Highland Park Of Title Minutes After Winning State Championship
On Friday, Highland Park Men’s Soccer Team won their first ever state championship by defeating Liberty Hill 2-0. Then merely hours later, Highland Park forfeited the championship title.
After the match, the SCOTS self-reported to UIL that they had utilized an ineligible player during the 5A Division II title match.
The state quickly confered to address the violation and ultimately decided that Highland Park would have to forfeit the state title, resulting in Liberty Hill being crowned state champions.
It is unclear what made the player ineligible, but rumors speculate that it was due to grades.
