Texas Tech Donor Sells Oil & Gas Company For $4 Billion
Cody Campbell, the owner of Fort Worth based Double Eagle Energy, an independent oil and natural gas company, has announced its sale to Midland’s Diamondback Energy for an estimated $4.1 billion.
Cody Campbell is a former Red Raider offensive lineman. He played for Texas Tech from 2001-2004, earning multiple All-Big 12 and Academic All-Big 12 honors during his team in Lubbock.
Campbell also founded The Matador Club, Texas Tech's NIL collective. He has invested millions into player recruitment and helped secure a top transfer portal class for the Red Raiders last year.
The Texas Tech alum spent millions of dollars last year recruiting the best “free agents” in college football to commit to the Red Raiders.
He is determined to get Texas Tech Football to a national championship, and with billions of dollars in assets to support recruitment in the age of the transfer portal, he may have just woken up a beast in West Texas.
Will Texas Tech be the new power house of college football in Texas?
