Governor Abbott Received Over $12M for School Choice
Any coincidence that Governor Abbott declared school choice an emergency item for the 89th legislative session?
Recent campaign finance reports have brought to light that Governor Abbott received over $12 million in contributions last year from Billionaire Jeff Yass. This is more than double than the next highest contributor.
Yass is a Pennsylvania megadonor, and the richest man in the state. He is reportedly worth $45 billion.
In the past couple of years, Yass and his inner circle have donated tens of millions of dollars to get school choice passed in states across the country. Just last year, Yass donated another $5 million to a PAC to try and get school choice passed in the state of Kentucky.
Now, the Pennsylvanian is throwing tens of millions of dollars into the pockets of Governor Greg Abbott to get school choice passed in the lonestar state.
During the 2025 State of The State Address, Abbott declared school school an emergency item, and he has since made it clear that it is his no.1 priority.
Many Republicans, Democrats, and Independents statewide are against school choice. There is a reason is has continuously failed to pass in an overwhelmingly majority Republican state.
