Cartels initiate shootout with Texas border patrol

Yesterday, the US Border Patrol engaged in a shootout with suspected cartel members at the Texas-Mexico border near Fonton, Texas.

The action unfolded around 1pm when shots were fired from the Mexican side of the border. Border patrols agents quickly took cover before returning shots of their own into Mexico.

It is being reported that there were no injuries or fatalities on either end of the border. Additionally, it was observed that the suspected cartel members were attempting to smuggle immigrants onto American soil.

This comes after tensions are higher than usual in recent years regarding the current mass deportations and border closures that are being seen across the southern states.
